GKO often pushes their newer shell designs during consulting processes to get more examples to show on their site, their first suggestion might not always be the best choice.

Maker Styles
Some makers will have signature styles or character types they are best known for, and this can be seen in the masks they make. Sigma for instance is known for more of a vintage aesthetic compared to today's more moeblob anime designs.
Its highly recommended to check out a maker's socials to see if their styles align with what you are looking for.
